The Book vs. the Kindle, Round 10: an Unfortunate Event

What happens when author Daniel Handler is confronted by a Kindle-toting fan at a signing at Green Apple Books? Hold on tight, folks. It's the final round of the Smackdown between The Book and Amazon's Kindle e-reader. Special thanks to today's "talent," Mr. Handler. What a gamer, eh?

would there have been such a fiery reaction if the kindle didn't have ignition built into its name?

The one tie was obviously a fake. The book SO won that one round, also. It's 10-0 in my count!

Thanks for a wonderfully entertaining series.

This was a highly entertaining way to point out that the "gotta get me some of that..." attitude toward all new things technology can lead to some pretty interesting results. In our modern-day rush to rush, we sometimes forget to slow down and think.

Thanks!

I love the printed word. And much prefer a book over Kindle.

However, really, there are times when an electronic book serves as a great alternative (for the overlong airplane trip, perhaps, or "Recipes from Cooks Illustrated" while at the grocery store.)

Lest we forget, the novel, at its inception, was deemed immoral and perverse.

Maybe it is ok to let people choose over which framework they receive their words. At least reading is going on...

I laughed so hard I had to wipe the tears away. That was epic, and awesome. Needed a little something to pull me out of my kindle fear induced moment of depression and stumbled across you guys & your hysterical videos. Needed that. Cheers from your BC neighbours.
