Is this the Harvard Bookstore or a miniature model? Mad props to Flickr user Carmel Kozlov:
and also, who (besides fancy interior designers) sorts their books by color??:
How do you sort your books? Alphabetically? Chronologically (by author's birthdate or date of your purchase)? Hmm?

It's a pity this a blogger blog without avatars or you could see a picture of my bookcase, organised by the place it on top of the messy stack carefully so they don't all end up on the floor principle.
When I lived alone, I sorted alphabetically by author. Now that I'm married, we have sort of a combination of his/hers/themed shelves. All sci fi/fantasy together, all classics together...
Actually, I do sort my books by color. At home. I'm not sure that the customers (or my boss) would appreciate the method at work.
Fancy hardcovers on the living room bookshelves. Paperbacks on the upstairs bookshelves. And then books of shame behind those.
Sometimes by author, other times by genre...oh, and then there are the randomly placed piles of 'recently bought,' 'intending to re-read,' and 'need to return/loan to someone.'
You're right, Tess...I'm pretty sure I wouldn't appreciate it.
For a brief period the Interior Design section at Green Apple was sorted by color.
I sort my books by subject matter.. religion, anatomy, school books, etc. I'm sure there is a better way, but that's just how it happens around here! I like the color idea, although I rarely remember what color books are...
I must admit that my bookshelf is sorted by color. I blame apartmentherapy.com for that.
